Sara J Kerr BA MA is a PhD candidate and Hume scholar at Maynooth University
I took my undergraduate degree, a BA in Ancient History and English, at Queen’s University of Belfast, being awarded a Foundation Scholarship in my first year. In 2006 I completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Educational Learning and Development through distance leaning at the University of Lincoln. I took a distinction in my MA in Education competed part time through distance learning at Edge Hill University. In 2014, I won John and Pat Hume Scholarship at Maynooth University to read my PhD in Digital Humanities and English.
In 2001, I completed my PGCE with Qualified Teacher Status focusing on secondary English. Over a period of 12 years, I have taught English, Media Studies and Film Studies up to A-level at several schools in the UK. My most recent position, before moving to Ireland and starting my PhD, was as a Deputy Curriculum Team Leader and Head of Department. Building on the analytics and R programming used for my PhD, I currently work as a Data Analyst with Taylor & Francis.
